CEAS hosts several research groups focused on specific areas within anthropology – Visual Anthropology, Education, Health, Organizations, Tourism and Heritage, Museum Studies, Media and Performance, Gender, Urban Studies, Postcolonial Studies, Transnationalism and Migration, among others.

In this context, the Visual Anthropology Group has been responsible for the organization, since 1992, of several documentary and ethnographic film exhibits, as well as a Visual Anthropology Seminar, and will soon implement training courses in the area. CEAS also sponsors an Informal Workshop in Ethnography, where researchers from different disciplinary areas share and debate experiences from ongoing research projects in monthly seminars. CEAS also hosts initiatives from ISCTE’s Anthropology Student Group.
